Facing fears with Travel!
Hey boos. If you’re reading this, then I just returned from my 3rd international trip! I spent my weekend in the sun while simultaneously facing a huge fear of mine. The ocean. Seas. Enormous bodies of water. All absolutely terrifying to me.
But, I spent the last several months preparing to stop being such a scaredy cat! Although this was my first cruise, it wasn’t my first time out of the United States. I’ve been to Europe (Paris and Barcelona). This cruise traveled to and docked in Nassau, Bahamas!
I thought I’d be a bundle of nerves on the cruise ship, but it was actually a powerful experience. From the scenery, food, and culture I truly enjoyed myself! Just taking in how extravagant another part of the world is was all I needed.
Why the Bahamas?
My friend Shayna was kind enough to invite myself and several other amazing ladies to celebrate her 25th birthday!
What was my favorite part?
Exploring the beach in Nassau and interacting with the beautiful people that live there. I had no idea that “Sea Biscuits” were a thing, until a few precious children pulled one out the water and educated me on them! Oh, and can't forget the long-late night conversations with the girls! Those are the best!
Would I go on another cruise?
Well I’m officially not afraid of being potential shark food anymore, so absolutely! In fact, I look forward to booking another one as soon as I can!
Traveling is something I once feared in general due to anxiety, but once I went to Europe with strangers (classmates I had just met before transferring to the college I graduated from). I discovered a side of myself I never knew! Now my heart yearns to see as much of God’s beautiful planet as I can! I can’t wait to share more experiences with you all.
Of course going out of the country is huge and can be expensive, but I hope you’re still encouraged to go somewhere new. Even if it’s a couple hours away- explore!
As always, I hope I’ve inspired you to be yourself while enjoying life! If you’re looking for me, I’ll probably be somewhere in bed whilst snoring and procrastinating unpacking!
